Marriott appoints sales, commercial leaders

Marriott International has appointed three new leaders to key customer-facing positions within the company.

Shannon Patterson is Marriott's new senior vice president, global sales. Since joining Marriott in 1996, Patterson has supported numerous initiatives across the brand, marketing, sales and consumer services divisions. Previously, Patterson was SVP for global growth and delivery, which included forging new business partnerships, overseeing the annual pricing process for Marriott’s corporate accounts and providing sales and marketing enablement tools. She also previously led Marriott’s customer engagement centers and is the executive sponsor for both the Parents and Caregiver Associate Resource Groups. 

Patterson replaces Tammy Routh, who has moved into a new role as commercial performance leader for The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection.

Andy Kauffman has been appointed chief commercial officer, U.S. and Canada. He returns to Marriott International from the National Football League, where he was senior vice president of marketing strategy & science since 2021. In his role with the NFL, Kauffman led marketing strategies that increased live game viewership and digital engagement, while directly overseeing fan insights & personalized engagement, marketing technology & data management and marketing activation across the league, partners and all 32 teams’ marketing channels. Before this, Kauffman spent 11 years at Marriott in various roles across the digital and marketing organizations, most recently as SVP of marketing channels and optimization. Before Marriott, Kauffman held leadership roles at Expedia and Disney focused on growing topline revenue growth and customer loyalty. 

Kauffman replaces Julius Robinson, formerly the chief sales and marketing officer, U.S. & Canada, who has moved into a new role as chief operations officer, U.S. West, Marriott International.

Gail Frazer is the new senior vice president, sales and distribution for the U.S. & Canada. Most recently, Frazer was managing vice president of sales and distribution for the U.S. Eastern Region, Premium and Luxury hotels. Frazer was formerly responsible for leading sales for the corporate segment within Marriott’s Corporate Global Sales Organization, contributing to more than $12 billion in topline sales. 

Frazer replaces Brian Gilligan, who has moved into a new role as regional vice president, premium brands, Northeast, Marriott International.
