Oxford Capital, Hunter Pasteur break ground on Detroit hotel

Oxford Capital Group and Hunter Pasteur are breaking ground on the Godfrey Hotel Detroit in the Motor City's historic Corktown neighborhood. The lifestyle property is scheduled to open in 2023 and will be managed by Oxford’s management affiliate, Oxford Hotels & Resorts.

The 227-room, seven-story hotel will include an indoor/outdoor rooftop lounge with views of downtown Detroit and Corktown, a ground-floor restaurant, a lobby bar, a 5,500-square-foot ballroom that will accommodate more than 350 guests, and a fitness center. The hotel will have a soft brand affiliation with Hilton’s Curio Collection.

The interiors of the hotel, designed by The Gettys Group, are inspired by the industrial aesthetics of the area’s restoration spirit. The interior has a bright neutral background with furniture and finishes that are saturated in color and refined in geometries and patterns.

The design includes mixed warm wood tones, bright terrazzo flooring, textured metals in sculptural lighting and detailing, and touches of specialty finishes that offer reflectivity and dimension. Guestrooms have warm furniture tones and accents set against a bright and clean backdrop. Elkus Manfredi Architects is handling the hotel’s architecture.
