Marriott opens dual-branded SpringHill/TownePlace Suites in New Orleans

Marriott International opened a combined 74-suite SpringHill Suites and 105-suite TownePlace Suites in New Orleans. Located at 1600 Canal Street, the hotels will operate as Marriott franchises, and are owned and managed by NewcrestImage of Lewisville, Texas.

The hotels will offer complimentary breakfast and Wi-Fi, and will include a combined lobby lounge, rooftop wellness center, and an elevated rooftop bar, Vue. Vue will offer small meals and craft cocktails, and the space will include two fireplaces and uninterrupted views of the city of New Orleans.

Located on the Canal streetcar line, the hotels will offer guests access to numerous restaurants, shops and entertainment venues. Additionally, the hotels are 11 miles from Louis Armstrong International Airport and are near local hot spots such as the French Quarter/Bourbon Street, University Medical Center and the National World War II Museum.

"Attracting both business travelers as well as tourists, the downtown New Orleans area is an ideal location for the dual opening," Janis Milham, SVP of Marriott Classic Select Brands, said in a statement. "Each brand offers distinct amenities and services that tailor to all visitors."

The properties have also put several green initiatives in place to help conserve energy and reduce their carbon footprint, and plan to work with several local businesses to bring health and wellness programs to both guests and locals who visit the hotel.

Designed for business and leisure travelers alike, the new SpringHill Suites New Orleans/Canal Street offers suites with separate living, working and sleeping areas. Each suite also includes SpringHill Suites’ custom, three-in-one, West Elm sofa which converts from a sofa to a daybed to a trundle bed. The designated work space also includes a desk.

For travelers who need accommodations for longer stays, this new TownePlace Suites New Orleans Downtown/Canal Street offers studio and one-bedroom suites with separate living, working and sleeping areas. The hotel's suites include full kitchenettes with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops, adjustable work spaces with built-in shelves and lighting, a large flat screen television and new bedding. Most rooms also include the Home Office Suite, designed to provide guests with more storage and space to spread out. While staying at the TownePlace Suites, travelers can also unpack their suitcase in a custom elfa closet.
