Hotel management firm Raines continues its Southeast expansion with the opening of the 118-room Courtyard by Marriott Sugar Mountain Banner Elk.
The North Carolina property—located just outside Banner Elk at the foot of Grandfather Mountain and Sugar Mountain—is managed by Raines and owned by Sugar Mountain Hospitality. It was co-developed by Arlington, Va.-based Clarendon Properties and Commercial Realty Advisors.
“Raines is excited to expand the partnership with Clarendon as both companies grow throughout the Southeast,” Grey Raines, managing partner of Raines, said in a statement. “We are proud to be the preferred management partner with such a great development company.”
Raines partnered closely with ownership on the hotel’s opening, overseeing the buildout, setup and implementation of Marriott’s POS and PMS systems, as well as the procurement and installation of all operating supplies and equipment (OS&E), according to the Florence, SC-based company.
The opening extends Raines’ partnership with Clarendon Properties and Commercial Realty Advisors. Previous collaborations include the Fairfield Inn & Suites Whitsett Greensboro and the Hilton Garden Inn Greenville in North Carolina.
The opening also marks another step in the company’s regional growth strategy. Additional Southeast properties in the Raines portfolio include the DoubleTree Greenville Woodruff, DoubleTree Summerville Nexton, Home2 Suites Charlotte University Research Park and Lantern Columbia. Several more projects are currently in development as the company continues to pursue strategic expansion across the Southeast.
The hotel features an on-site restaurant, meeting space, indoor pool, fitness center, bar and business center. The property is located in the mountain village of Banner Elk and is in close proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway and several regional ski resorts.
