Following renovations at both properties, W Hotels has opened W Sound Suites in W Barcelona and in W Hollywood. The private music studio and writers rooms let hotel guests and professional musicians record in a professional and private setting.
Following the opening of the first W Sound Suite at W Bali – Seminyak and the first W Sound Suite in the U.S. at W Seattle, the new suites were custom-outfitted by Lady Gaga co-writer and producer, DJ White Shadow, who is also the North American music director for W Hotels Worldwide.
A New Sound in Barcelona
The W Sound Suite at W Barcelona is the first of its kind in Europe, following a renovation of all 473 guestrooms and suites. The in-house design team at W Hotels worked with London-based design studio Bowler James Brindley to reimagine the hotel, inspired by Barceloneta, a neighborhood in Barcelona.
The new room design includes a color palette of blues, plus hints of white, teal and rose gold. Underwater camouflage is displayed in the carpet that interprets the sea bed as seen through waters of the Mediterranean.
The suite has modular furniture with pendant lighting in each guestroom's sitting area that is meant to reflect Spain's tapas culture. The rooms also have signature accent pillows with images of iconic characters from Barcelona's history, including Gaudi, Dali and St. Eulalia.
Following the renovation, all guestrooms also have new in-room services, including Nespresso coffee machines, tea making facilities, 49-inch flat-screen televisions and Bose Bluetooth sound systems.
Los Angeles
The W Sound Suite at W Hollywood was developed with Coca-Cola.
W Sound Suites are in part the brainchild of the brand's North American music director, DJ White Shadow, who custom-fitted the suites with professional grade sound equipment from tech companies in sound production.
W Hotels and Coca-Cola partnered with Native Instruments and Shure to outfit the W Sound Suite with equipment including control keyboard, all-in-one DJ system, headphones and microphones. The W Sound Suite will also provide a Yamaha acoustic guitar and Fender jaguar bass for guests and artists to use during their sessions.
