Charlestowne Hotels to manage Michigan hotel

Charlestowne Hotels is taking over management of The H Hotel in Midland, Mich.—its first property in the state and seventh in the region. As The H Hotel transitions from a Dolce by Wyndham to an independent property, Charlestowne’s specialized expertise in managing lifestyle hotels will ensure The H Hotel maintains its service and commitment to excellence within Michigan’s Great Lakes Bay Region, according to the company.

The 139-room hotel has been a AAA Four Diamond recipient each year since 2013. The H Hotel has several venue spaces, including a ballroom with adjacent foyer, outdoor courtyard ceremony space, and smaller indoor options for more intimate affairs. The hotel has more than 25,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor meeting space and group catering options.

“Our team has decades of experience managing lifestyle hotels, and to work with a property that’s transitioning to being independently run is especially exciting for us,” Charlestowne Hotels CEO Kyle Hughey said in a statement. “The H Hotel is respected for its long-standing commitment to the community, and as part of this transition, we’re working directly alongside ownership to elevate the existing character and charm of this iconic Midland property.”

The H Hotel has three dining establishments. Café Zinc brings the café culture of Europe to the Heartland. One eighteen features classic American cuisine set amidst mid-century design and a tavern-style feel. Oxygen Lounge is a bar and lounge that serves as a community hotspot and go-to destination for business travelers after a day of meetings. For those Midwestern winters, The H Hotel offers luxurious Winter Dining Pods that allow for cozy outdoor dining.

“We’re looking forward to collaborating with Charlestowne Hotels on ways to further enhance on-site facilities and guest programming as we seek to create a heightened sense of place for all who walk through our doors,” said H Hotel GM Derek Grimaldi. “Through this new partnership, we’ll introduce more ways for our visitors to savor Midland’s vibrant arts, culture, and recreational offerings through thoughtful amenities and tailored experiences.”
