Life House adds San Francisco hotel to portfolio

Hotel operator Life House has added the Metro Hotel in San Francisco to its portfolio. This property is the second Northern California hotel Life House has added this year following the transition of Casa Secoya in Monte Rio. Several other projects are in advanced negotiation throughout the region.

Centrally located in the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco, Metro Hotel is close to Hayes Valley, the Castro and Golden Gate Park and a short drive from downtown.

Ted and Ellen Soulis first purchased the hotel in 1985. Ted Soulis managed the property until his death in 2007, and Ellen and daughter Shana have been in charge since.

“We are thrilled for the opportunity to operate the Metro Hotel, a local favorite in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood,” said Eric Gunderson, VP of West Coast acquisitions for Life House. “We look forward to taking the reins on day-to-day operations while preserving the authentically local experience that guests have grown to love since the mid-1980s.”

Life House is expanding the presence of its tech-enabled management platform throughout urban and drive-to markets across California, with a target of 10 properties under management in the state by year-end. In February, Life House acquired the management contracts of Imprint Hospitality’s independent hotel portfolio, which included independent properties across the West Coast.
