Management companies add upcoming, existing hotels to portfolios

A number of management companies have signed deals to operate existing and upcoming properties across the U.S. Here are a few noteworthy agreements to know.

Crestline in California, Florida

Crestline Hotels & Resorts has added Los Angeles' The Delphi (formerly The Standard Hotel) and the Waldorf Towers in Miami Beach, Fla., to its management portfolio. Both hotels have been reimagined to reflect their history. James Carroll, president & CEO of Crestline, noted that the company has similarly reimagined other lifestyle hotels like El Prado in Palo Alto, Calif. and the Phoenix Park Hotel in Washington, D.C.

The 207-guestroom Delphi Hotel is located near the LA Convention Center in downtown Los Angeles. It has 10,000-square-feet of event space and will open five new restaurant and bar concepts over the next 12 months including fully renovating and reimagining the rooftop pool and lounge. The 12-story building opened in 1955 as the headquarters for Standard Oil. Today it is recognized for its art deco architecture and is considered a City of Los Angeles Historic Cultural Monument.

The property was redesigned by the creative team at Ellis Adams Group. The interiors are a blend of modern and deco, with touches of brass and velvet  and plenty of greenery. Each of the guestrooms, suites and two penthouses have closets, oversized bathtubs, mood lighting, a platform bed, large-screen TVs, floating desks and giant mirrors. Bed linens and bath terry are by Italian brand Fili D’oro.

On Miami's South Beach, the 43-room Waldorf Towers was designed by architect Albert Anis in 1937. The reimagined hotel retains signature elements including its rooftop lighthouse above the northeast corner.

Each of the guestrooms has oversized soundproof windows, ceiling fans and bathrooms with rain showerheads. Icon, the on-property restaurant, has rattan chairs lining the sidewalk.

Lummus Park and Muscle Beach are adjacent to the hotel and the Collins Avenue Shopping District is close by. Miami International Airport is fewer than 20 minutes away.

Indigo Road in Georgia

The Indigo Road Hospitality Group has added Bridge Creek Inn in Clayton, Ga., to its portfolio of boutique hotels throughout the Southeast and Midwest. Indigo Road will manage the property, slated to open in September, for Ridgeline Investment Partners, the property’s owner.

The hotel will have 45 guestrooms, a coffee bar, a bar and restaurant and multiple indoor and outdoor event venues. It will be located on the corner of South Main Street and Derrick Street, where a hotel has stood since the 19th century. Known for decades as The Clayton Hotel, the new property is being restored from a 1950s building.

Bridge Creek Inn is Indigo Road’s fourth property within or near the Blue Ridge Mountains range.

CoralTree in Texas

CoralTree Hospitality is growing its collection of hotels and resorts in Texas with the addition of The Peninsula Beach Resort, a full-service resort community along the Gulf Coast. The 110-acre property in Port Bolivar is scheduled to have 90 single-family homes, 114 rental cottages that can accommodate up to 1,000 guests per day with a clubhouse and two pools, 50 recreational vehicle sites and more than 160 beachside condominiums, several dining options and a private airport. The first phase of the project will open next year.

Located on Crystal Beach along the Bolivar Peninsula, the first phase of the resort will open in the spring of 2024 with The Zoo Beachbar & Grill, a 41,000-square-foot sports bar and grill with two floors of indoor and outdoor dining overlooking a 100,000-square-foot private beach with championship sand volleyball courts, recreational game areas along with food and beverage services.

Additional openings planned for phases one and two of the resort’s development include 114 one-, two- and three-bedroom rental cottages with private guest club houses, Veranda Bar & Grill, event facilities, two Olympic-sized pools, cabanas and pickleball courts. The Esplanade Spa & Restaurant will have a workout room, steam and dry saunas and outdoor pools. Four separate event facilities will provide more than 30,000-square-feet of space for functions. The 50 recreational vehicle sites will have overhead hospitality cabins with living and dining areas with fireplaces, full bath, kitchen and outdoor entertainment deck.

The final phase of the resort’s development, expected to be completed by 2025, will include 90 two-, three- and four-bedroom luxury beachfront homes and multiple mid-rise condominium towers offering more than 160 two- and three-bedroom units. Owners will be able to rent their condominiums and houses through the Peninsula rental management services. A private FAA classification airport will make the Peninsula the only fly-in beach resort in the United States. More than 40,000-square-feet of retail commercial space also will be developed along Highway 87.
