Saint Lucia resort joins Preferred Hotels & Resorts

Marigot Bay Resort and Marina in Saint Lucia has joined the Preferred Hotels & Resorts LVX Collection of independent properties.

The 124-room Caribbean resort originally operated under the Capella Hotels & Resorts brand.

Preferred Hotels & Resorts appointed a new management team to lead the rebranding strategy for the resort and industry veteran Perle Flavien will serve as director of resort operations.

"Current industry research clearly indicates that high-end independent hotels in the Caribbean region far outperform branded hospitality properties. This knowledge, combined with strong ownership involvement, our sales and marketing partners and dynamic onsite leadership team, will set us up for success as we look toward the future,” Flavien said in a statement.

Preferred Hotels & Resorts added another 21 new hotels, resorts and residences in second quarter. These include the 60-room Hotel 71 in Quebec, Canada; the JA Manafaru in Manafaru, Maldives; the One Barcelona in Barcelona, Spain; the 29-room 9Hotel Confidentiel in Paris; and the 63-room Grand Hotel San Pietro in Taormina, Italy.

The Americas saw the addition of four hotels in California, Massachusetts, Mexico and New York to the Preferred Hotels' portfolio. Meanwhile, nine hotels joined the chain across Europe and the Middle East in the UK, Norway, the Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, Sweden and Saudi Arabia. Another three hotels and resorts also joined the company from Asia-Pacific in Malaysia and India.

These new members joined after the company's expansion in the first half of 2018, which included the addition of 35 hotels and resorts. The company now has more than 700 hotels, resorts, residences and hotel groups.

American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts also recently invited Marigot Bay Resort to join its portfolio.
