Sonder has partnered with Kalimian Equities to manage and operate the newly constructed The Merchant hotel in New York City. This new, 98-key hotel is scheduled to open in the fall.
The lobby will have double-height ceilings, terrazzo floors and custom millwork. All rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows, hand-crafted custom finishes and views of the surrounding neighborhood. Several rooms have private outdoor terraces overlooking the Lower East Side’s streetscape. A fitness center and guest lounge will also be available .

Guests will have access to contactless check in via the Sonder app, which lets them skip the front desk, as well as the ability to make requests such as early check-in or late checkout.
The deal was brokered by Aziz Kabbaj of Reshape. Sonder operates in more than 40 markets across 10 countries. The company has approximately 18,200 live and contracted units worldwide as of Q1 2023.
