Virgin, Island, Terrapin add, promote leaders

Several hospitality companies have appointed and promoted new executives recently.

Virgin Hotels

Virgin Hotels has added three new members to its newly formed global sales team: Maya Latinovic, vice president of global sales; Peter D’Elia, global director of business travel and entertainment sales; and Alyssa Maselli, global director of group sales. 

As the VP of global sales, Latinovic and her team will fidn revenue opportunities for Virgin Hotels' portfolio. As the principal liaison, her efforts will foster a collaborative environment across all channels, while developing multi-segment strategies to drive incremental business within the hotels' portfolios. Previously, Latinovic worked as the director of brand sales at Edition Hotels, where she was responsible for optimizing travel industry sales performance for 13 hotels worldwide. She also spent 12 years as part of the global sales team for Preferred Hotels. 

D’Elia will be responsible for revenue generation in the portfolios for the business travel and entertainment sectors. Most recently, he was the global luxury and account executive at Marriott International, focusing on their luxury brands which included The Ritz Carlton, St. Regis, Edition and The W Hotels. In this role, he was responsible for spearheading the collaboration of global selling partner accounts.

Maselli previously held the director of global sales position in the Northeast region for The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, where she was the primary account manager for 30 four- and five-star Mandarin Oriental Hotels. Maselli will be responsible for generating group meetings and incentive opportunities for all Virgin Hotels.

Island Hospitality Management 

Island Hospitality Management has promoted Drew Allison and John Marques to EVPs of operations. In their new roles, each will be responsible for the sales and operations for his respective division of hotels while facilitating and growing existing relationships with Island Hospitality’s portfolio of ownership groups. 

Allison began his career with Island Hospitality as manager of the Residence Inn, Silicon Valley II in 2005. During his tenure with the company, he has worked in 11 different roles across the U.S. including area manager, regional VP and SVP of operations. 

Marques joined Island Hospitality as regional director of operations in 2006. Previous roles include regional VP for Musselman Hotels and SVP for Magna Hotels. 

Terrapin Hospitality

Terrapin Hospitality expanded its management team with the promotion of Shawn Kvernen to COO and the addition of Robert Adler as regional VP. 

In his new role, Kvernen will be responsible for all aspects of the company's overall growth and oversight of the entire managed portfolio. Adler will report directly to Kvernen.

Kvernen joined Terrapin in September 2021 as SVPt of business development upon the closing of the company's acquisition of K Partners, where he served as owner and COO. During his 15-year tenure at K Partners, he held various operational roles and helped the company grow from four to 35 properties. 

Adler joins Terrapin from Hotel Equities, where he served as VP of operations west and was responsible for overseeing the company's portfolio in the western United States.
