ALIS Update: Awards showcase top deals, more

LOS ANGELES—The Americas Lodging Investment Summit announced its winners for the ALIS Awards during last week’s event. Nominees included hotels, companies and executives who were responsible for the most influential hotel industry deals in 2022. Nominees for the awards were evaluated based on outstanding business performance in various industry sectors.

1 Hotel and Embassy Suites in Nashville was named Development of the Year (Full Service) 2022 (includes branded and unbranded in the luxury and upper upscale chain scales, and casinos).

citizenM Chicago Downtown was named Development of the Year (Select/Limited Service) 2022 (includes branded and unbranded in the upscale, upper midscale, midscale, and economy chain scales)

Waldorf Astoria Washington DC was named Single Asset Transaction of the Year (Over US$25M) 2022.

Old Santa Fe Inn (N.M.) was named Single Transaction of the Year (US$25M & Under) 2022.

Watermark Lodging Trust acquired by Brookfield Asset Management was named Merger & Acquisition of the Year 2022.

Teague Hunter, president and CEO, Hunter Hotel Advisors was named Jack A. Shaffer Financial Advisor of the Year 2022. 

In addition, the American Hotel & Lodging Association Foundation announced several awards during its 5th annual Night of a Thousand Stars gala during ALIS.

As part of the celebration, Geoff Ballotti, president and CEO of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, was honored with the second annual Arne Sorenson Social Impact Leadership Award for his extraordinary commitment to being an active agent of change as the industry continues to evolve and further embrace its social responsibility.

  • Paving The Way Award: Rachel Moniz, principal and chief operating officer, HEI Hotels & Resorts, Norwalk, Conn.
  • Stevan Porter Emerging Hospitality Leader of the Year: Madelyn Dingam, marketing manager, Cliff House Maine, Cape Neddick, Maine
