Smarter seating: Liberty Ocean from Humanscale

Office ergonomics company Humanscale has launched a new chair for hotel meeting rooms or workspaces.

Called Liberty Ocean, the chair is made with two pounds of reclaimed ocean fishing nets, joining the company's Smart Ocean chair as one of the first-ever task chairs to utilize this material. The manufacturing of Liberty Ocean uses abandoned, lost and discarded fishing nets that damage delicate ecosystems and the marine life that inhabit them while also creating a net positive impact to the Earth.

Similar to the Liberty task chair, this new piece uses mesh material for self-adjusting support. Its self-adjusting recline automatically provides support regardless of user size or weight. Its pivoting backrest provides instant support as the sitter

changes positions, and the form-sensing mesh back creates body-fitting contours and self-adjusting lumbar support for a customized fit.

The chair’s adjustable or fixed armrests connect to the backrest instead of the seat to stay with the body during recline. It is available with a black back/frame.
