Hotel Equities has signed a hotel-management agreement with Grupo Ginevra-GNV to operate SLS Punta del Este, an Accor-branded luxury hotel and residential development scheduled to open in early 2029.
The property is Hotel Equities' first project in Uruguay and expands the Alpharetta, Ga.-based company's Caribbean and Latin America platform into South America. Under the agreement, Accor—through its Ennismore division and the SLS brand—will oversee the property's brand identity, design standards and guest experience.
“SLS Punta del Este is designed to set a new standard for branded residential development in Uruguay,” Alejandro Ginevra, president of GNV Group, said in a statement. “Hotel Equities brings the in-market operating experience across the Caribbean and Latin America to turn that vision into a functioning property, from pre-opening through day-to-day operations.”
“We see Punta del Este as one of South America’s fastest-growing hospitality markets, and Uruguay is a natural next step for our CALA platform,” added Juan Corvinos, president of Hotel Equities CALA.
Hotel Equities CALA will manage day-to-day hotel operations and financial performance, including the property's wellness center, food-and-beverage outlets and event spaces. The company will also oversee a rental program for residential unit owners who choose to make their residences available for guest stays when not in personal use.
The Punta del Este project is the latest addition to the company's CALA portfolio. Over the past 15 months, the division has expanded to 11 countries with 16 hotels and resorts representing more than 2,000 guestrooms in operation and development, along with 23 food-and-beverage outlets.
Recent additions include the management of Hacienda Tres Rios in Mexico's Riviera Maya, which is expected to convert to Kimpton Tres Rios, the brand's first all-inclusive resort, in September. Hotel Equities also expects to assume management of additional properties in Belize, Mexico City, Cuernavaca, Curaçao and other destinations across the region.
