JW Marriott Mexico City completes phase one of renovation

The JW Marriott Mexico City has completed renovations of its guestrooms and suites, the first phase of an ongoing total property upgrade. Phase two, slated for completion for this coming autumn, will update the hotel’s entrances and lobby and add four new culinary concepts including a bar and mezcal room alongside 2,800 square feet of reimagined meeting spaces.

All of the designs are rooted in the social, physical and historical elements of the city’s Polanco District.

The renovation of all 314 rooms, including 47 suites, uses colors inspired by nature. Guestrooms, which use a minimalist aesthetic, have a dedicated work area and smart TVs.

“We are delighted to showcase the renovations of our incredible hotel, providing the perfect place for connecting to what matters most while flawlessly blending modern style with substance," Ramón Diago, GM of the JW Marriott Mexico City, said in a statement. "As we continue the renovation process, our best-in-class hotel will experience an evolution in motion, a metamorphosis that will open the door to endless possibilities and provide a window towards a new future for the JW Marriott Mexico City.”

Originally opened in 1996, the Mexico City property was the first JW Marriott hotel outside of the United States. It is within walking distance to the Museum of Anthropology, National Auditorium, Soumaya Museum, Zócalo central square and the Palace of Fine Arts.
