IHG partners with PPDS for in-room smart TVs

PPDS, the exclusive provider of Philips professional displays, has a new global partnership with IHG Hotels & Resorts that will bring its new Chromecast built-in Philips MediaSuite hospitality TVs to IHG hotels.

IHG will begin introducing Philips MediaSuite TVs into selected hotels across all of its brands, including InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, the Holiday Inn brand family, Crowne Plaza, Voco and Hotel Indigo in the coming months.

“This is an exciting and significant deal for PPDS and IHG, as we align ourselves in our efforts to create and bring world leading services and experiences to hotel guests," Mikael da Fonseca, international key account director for hospitality at PPDS, said in a statement. “Our recent 2022 Guest Behavior Survey revealed that hotels have a 25 percent higher chance of repeat business from a guest, if their hotel rooms are equipped to offer simple and seamless casting services, plus the ability to stream content from their favorite accounts, such as Netflix. Philips MediaSuite is the first and only hospitality TV with built-in Chromecast and is able to mirror the same viewing experiences enjoyed at home to the hotel.”

As a part of the partnership, Philips MediaSuite TVs, available across multiple sizes from 49 to 75 inches, will be available for hotels to purchase. Guests staying at select IHG hotels will be able to wirelessly cast their streaming content, including movies, gaming and presentations, straight to the big screen for higher resolution viewing from their own smart devices. Part of a long-term commitment to featuring Chromecast, extensive security protocols have also been built in, with all guest data deleted when a guest checks out of their room. Philips MediaSuite TVs are also designed Netflix-ready.
