Hotel connectivity provider Positron Access Solutions and SONIFI have completed the deployment of Positron's Gigabit Any Media (GAM) networking solution at Buena Vista Suites Orlando.
The deployment enables the Florida hotel to upgrade guest connectivity by converting its existing coaxial cabling into a standards-compliant Gigabit Ethernet network rather than replacing its infrastructure. According to the companies, replacing the property's cabling would have required extensive construction work and guestrooms to be taken out of service.
The project was designed to improve high-speed internet access throughout the all-suite property while avoiding the cost and operational disruption associated with traditional rewiring. The upgraded network supports guest internet access, in-room Wi-Fi and IP-based technologies, including IPTV and streaming services.
In a statement, Chet Patel, complex director of IT for Buena Vista Suites Orlando, said the installation “was completed quickly with no disruption to hotel operations, and we've seen a dramatic improvement in the reliability of our guest connectivity.”

SONIFI served as the technology integration partner for the project, providing network design, equipment procurement, configuration and installation support. According to the companies, the installation was completed in approximately one week, with work in individual guestrooms taking about 20 minutes each, allowing the hotel to remain operational throughout the deployment.
The upgraded network also provides infrastructure to support future IP-based technologies, including streaming services, IPTV, in-room entertainment systems and smart room applications, using the property's existing coaxial network as the backbone.
