Charlestowne Hotels to manage Massachusetts' Autumn Inn

Charlestowne Hotels welcomes The Autumn Inn in Northampton, Mass., as the newest addition to the company’s portfolio. The property is located steps from downtown Northampton and Smith College.

Given the inn’s proximity to Smith College, UMASS Amherst, Amherst College, Hampshire College and Mount Holyoke College within a 10-mile radius, Charlestowne will work to forge and optimize business relationships with each institution and their affiliate organizations. “A property doesn’t need to be a thematic, traditional ‘university hotel’ to capitalize on the demand generated by nearby academic institutions,”  Michael Tall, president and COO of Charlestowne Hotels, said in a statement. “We’ve developed a proven method for utilizing the cyclical university season, while identifying alternative revenue sources for our properties in these markets.”

Northampton is a college town that has expanded into a city that has been recognized in recent years by numerous publications as a destination for the arts, families, historic preservation and outdoor adventure.

The Autumn Inn looks forward to a top to bottom renovation that will elevate the inn to one of Northampton’s premier lodging destinations. Plans for the $1.5-million renovation include both interior and exterior elements, including new landscaping, an exterior refresh, upgraded guestrooms and bathrooms and redesigned common areas. All planned design work will be aimed at enhancing and refining the inn’s original structure and intent: To be a true and inviting New England colonial-style inn.

Following the renovation, Charlestowne will lead rebranding efforts to help reposition the property.

Designed in New England colonial style, The Autumn Inn is comprised of 32 individually appointed guestrooms with both interior and exterior access.
