Onomo Hotels gets majority stake in Africa's Bon Hotels

Casablanca, Morocco-based hotel platform Onomo Hotels has acquired a 60.1 percent controlling stake in Bon Hotels, an international hospitality company that owns, manages and markets hotels throughout Africa.

“Onomo is consolidating the African hospitality market and will continue to strengthen its pan-African presence,” said Onomo Chairman Julien Ruggieri. “The acquisition deal establishes Onomo as a key player in the Nigerian market and will reinforce our presence in Southern Africa.”

Bon operates 37 hotels in Ethiopia, Namibia and South Africa. The West African arm, Bon Hotels International West Africa, oversees the operations and management of hotels throughout Nigeria. Onomo, meanwhile, has 21 hotels in 12 African countries and a secured development pipeline of more than 2,000 rooms across Africa.

The deal gives Onomo a presence in 15 countries from Morocco to South Africa with 4,300 guestrooms and a pipeline of an additional 3,000 rooms.
