Aloft Lake Nona, events center to open in Orlando

Aloft Orlando Lake Nona is set to open in January 2024 as the closest hotel to the largest tennis facility in the world, the United States Tennis Association National Campus, according to the brand. The hotel will include the Althea Lake Nona Events Center, named for famed tennis player Althea Gibson.

Aloft Lake Nona has 205 urban-inspired guestrooms and 15 suites, a sports-themed restaurant and the 10,000-square-foot Althea Lake Nona Events Center.

“We are proud to be opening Aloft Lake Nona in this vibrant community nationally recognized for its extraordinary entertainment, public art, innovative dining, and world-class sports venues,” Area GM John Luciew said in a statement. “We are honored to pay tribute to one of the world’s greatest African American tennis athletes of all time, Althea Neale Gibson, an iconic athlete challenging diversity in sports and redefining excellence in her career. Our dedicated Althea Lake Nona Events Center will be the connective social thread to inspire new ideas and create unparalleled experiences for groups, athletes and global travelers.”

With a total of 17,032 square feet of event space including a 6,000-square-foot Gibson ballroom, Althea Lake Nona Events Center and Aloft Lake Nona have versatile indoor and outdoor options. This expansive area can be divided into five, smaller private ballrooms, each with playful geometric ceilings and a chic blend of modern blue, light cream and dark wood accents, creating a warm and stylish event setting.

Additional venues include a spacious ballroom foyer with floor-to-ceiling windows, a boardroom named Tactic and three meeting rooms—Game, Set and Match. In addition to these indoor spaces, Aloft Lake Nona provides outdoor event spaces, including a lush palm-tree-lined pool deck and a lakefront backyard, offering a picturesque backdrop for social cocktail hours, waterfront weddings and celebratory events year-round.

Designed by HC Architecture, Aloft Lake Nona has 205 loft-style guestrooms and 15 one-bedroom suites with airy 9-foot-high ceilings with open floor plans, ultra-plush platform beds, Bliss Spa bathroom amenities, walk-in showers with rainfall showerheads, and high-speed Wi-Fi with LCD TVs. The eclectic decor with pops of electric orange, grays, and locally sourced wallpaper has design nods to the hotel’s lively music and technology roots with its own Marshall retro-looking sound system and the latest in-room technology.

Aloft Lake Nona’s contemporary, art-forward and spacious lobby invites guests to enjoy multiple dining options spearheaded by Chef Guillaume Robin, a Michelin-recommended chef who also oversees Althea’s elevated catering and events menus.

Additional Aloft Lake Nona amenities include: a natural saline splash pool with comfortable lounge seating, an adjacent ground-level 24-hour Re:ChargeSM gym featuring Technogym equipment and business center, as well as complimentary electric bikes and Move Nona‘s daily community shuttles in partnership with Beep.
