Sonesta opens new properties in five states

Sonesta International Hotels Corp. has opened several new hotels across five states in recent weeks.

Signature Inn

The 40-room upper-economy Signature Inn Winnemucca, Nev., is close to the Winnemucca Golf Course, Humboldt Museum and the casinos, and is close to Interstate 80.

“The conversion of the Signature Inn Winnemucca, the latest of several Signature Inn properties expected to open this year, is part of the rapid growth of Sonesta’s portfolio,” Sonesta EVP and President of Franchise and Development Keith Pierce said in a statement. “This conversion highlights the value that Sonesta, as an experienced hotel owner and operator, can provide to franchisees at all brand levels as we work with the hotel owner to reposition this hotel from an economy brand to an upper-economy tier.”

“We are excited to open our doors as a Signature Inn,” said Narinder Mall, owner of Signature Inn Winnemucca. “The city of Winnemucca is an ideal location to operate a Signature Inn, as the halfway point between Salt Lake City and San Francisco along Interstate 80. We look forward to travelers experiencing the property’s retro design.” Including the Signature Inn Winnemucca, Sonesta now has eight Signature Inn locations throughout the U.S.

The Signature Inn Winnemucca has an outdoor pool and a lounge.

Sonesta Essentials

The 100-room, upper-midscale Sonesta Essential Orlando is four miles from Orlando International Airport and is close to The Orlando Water Sports Complex, Orlando Convention Centers, SeaWorld Orlando and Universal Studios.

“This is the 10th Sonesta Essential hotel since we introduced the brand just over a year ago. Our brand growth has been driven by franchisees who recognize the continued strong consumer demand for limited-service properties,” Pierce said.

Sonesta also opened two new upper-midscale Sonesta Essential hotels in March. Sonesta Essential Morgantown is a 57-room hotel in Morgantown, W.Va. and Sonesta Essential Gonzales (Texas) is a 52-room hotel.

“The opening of two new Sonesta Essential hotels showcases the continued growth of one of Sonesta’s newest brands,” Pierce said. “As experienced hotel owners and operators, we have created a fast, friendly and flexible model for our franchisees that allows for swift conversions into our portfolio.”

Sonesta Essential is a limited-service brand with complimentary hot breakfast and a fitness center.

Red Lion Inn & Suites Elk Grove

The 47-room Red Lion Inn & Suites Elk Grove opened in California.

“The opening of the Red Lion Inn & Suites Elk Grove is a testament to the brand’s renewed growth nationwide,” Pierce said. “This is the third Red Lion Inn & Suites location to open in 2024, underscoring how Sonesta continues to meet consumer demand for midscale properties with openings in secondary and tertiary markets.”
