Visual interest: Sopra downlight by Original BTC

British lighting manufacturer Original BTC has launched the Sopra downlight.

Hand-crafted at Original BTC’s Stoke-on-Trent factory in the UK, using specially created plaster molds, the Sopra shade is available in either a quilted, plain or ridged finish. It fits similarly to standard downlights, bringing visual interest to ceilings as well as a soft, diffused glow to any space.

Production begins with the creation of three variations of mold, which are filled with a clay and water mixture, then left to set before the excess is tipped out to leave a lining of bone china which is removed to reveal the shade.
