Riverhouse Lodge updates guestrooms, conference spaces

The Riverhouse Lodge, located in Bend, Ore., by the Deschutes River, has undergone the most significant renovation in its nearly five-decade history. The update includes all 221 guestrooms, the Currents Restaurant & Bar, the region-exclusive conference center with 41,000 square feet of space and the wedding lawn. Completion of the lobby and public spaces is anticipated by the end of 2023, gearing up for the hotel's 50th-anniversary celebration in summer 2024.

The revamped guestrooms now showcase shades of blue and brown, taking inspiration from the past. Noteworthy additions include bunkbed rooms for families and groups, and new furniture pieces reminiscent of family keepsakes. Several guestrooms will feature fire pits, complemented by Adirondack chairs, with s’mores ingredients available for purchase.

Currents Restaurant & Bar has undergone a design transformation and a menu overhaul. The space highlights natural beauty and offers a relaxed dining environment. Executive chef Travis Taylor and chef de cuisine Damon Jones have crafted a new menu that emphasizes locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. The convention center at Riverhouse Lodge, the largest of its kind east of the Cascades in Oregon, has been refreshed with new carpets and design elements.

The property will also soon have an updated lobby to incorporate elements of local history. Materials such as reclaimed wood from the old Stern’s Cattle Company cabin will be used, combined with fabrics and colors inspired by the natural surroundings.
