McKibbon Equities, McKibbon Places and McKibbon Hospitality—in partnership with city officials and project stakeholders—have broken ground on the dual-brand AC Hotel & Moxy Tampa Downtown.
Expected to open in early 2028, the 13-story hotel will include 310 guestrooms, with 175 rooms under AC Hotels by Marriott and 135 rooms under Moxy Hotels. The property is being developed by McKibbon Equities and will be operated by Tampa, Fla.-based McKibbon Hospitality, adding to the company’s existing portfolio in the Tampa Bay market.
Plans call for a ground-floor café and wine bar, 10,531 square feet of retail space, a fifth-floor pool deck, a rooftop restaurant and bar, and more than 6,500 square feet of meeting and event space. Project partners include Lindsay Pope Brayfield & Associates as architect and The Society as interior designer. McKibbon Places is serving as project manager, with Coastal Construction acting as general contractor.
“Water Street and Channel District are truly at the center of Tampa’s growth, and we’re excited to contribute to the area’s evolution and the increasing demand for lifestyle-driven hospitality experiences with this project,” J.B. McKibbon, president of McKibbon Equities, said in a statement. “Pairing the AC Hotel and Moxy by Marriott brands was a very intentional decision, as was our focus on creating unique food & beverage experiences to meet the needs of modern travelers.”
