Salamander Collection names corporate director of F&B

Salamander Collection has appointed Matthew Gabos as corporate director of food and beverage. Gabos brings more than 25 years of experience in luxury hotels and resorts. He joins the Middleburg, Va.-based company from The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort, where he most recently served as director of food and beverage. During his career, he has held leadership roles overseeing food and beverage operations, multi-outlet venues and resort operations.

In his new role, Gabos will work with Salamander Collection's corporate leadership team and property managing directors, general managers and food and beverage leaders to develop operational strategy and culinary and service standards across the company's portfolio.

“Matthew brings an exceptional combination of operational expertise, culinary leadership and luxury hospitality experience,” George Terpilowski, SVP, operations for Salamander Collection. “His track record across some of the industry's most respected resorts, combined with his passion for developing teams and elevating the guest experience, will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen and evolve our food and beverage offerings across the portfolio.”

“I've long admired Salamander Collection's commitment to authenticity, thoughtful luxury and creating meaningful guest experiences,” added Gabos.

At The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort, Gabos oversaw a $32 million food and beverage operation that included eight outlets, banquets and in-room dining while leading a team of 160 associates.

Before joining Kiawah Island, Gabos spent six years with Auberge Collection in several senior leadership positions, including director of operations. His responsibilities included overseeing rooms and food and beverage operations, supporting resort openings and serving in executive leadership roles at properties in Napa Valley, Hawaii, Virginia and California.

Earlier in his career, Gabos held leadership positions at Ojai Valley Inn & Spa; St. Regis Monarch Beach; The Lodge at Pebble Beach; The Grand Del Mar Resort & Spa; and ClubCorp.
