Ohana Real Estate Investors appoints new president

Ohana Real Estate Investors, a vertically integrated real estate investment firm, promoted Franco Famularo to the position of president, effective immediately. Famularo was chief investment officer prior to this promotion and will continue in this role in addition to his expanded oversight of the firm’s investment management business.

Famularo joined Ohana in 2015 as the first dedicated investment professional and has helped build the investment management business from the ground up over the past nine years. Under his leadership, the firm has launched five equity and credit-fund vehicles, navigated through the global pandemic and experienced significant growth, culminating in an excess of $3 billion in assets under management.

“As we embark on our next stage of growth and expansion, Franco will take significant responsibility for leading those efforts,” Founder and CEO Christopher Smith said in a statement. “Franco’s investment acumen and leadership skills have enabled much of our success. He embodies our core values every day and the entire organization is better because of him.”

Before joining Ohana, Famularo was a principal at Blackstone in New York, where he focused on opportunistic and distressed investing across multiple property types. He also was an advisor to Starrett Companies, a residential and commercial real estate investment platform that was a Blackstone portfolio company.
