Curved Chair: Oko from Stylex

Furnishings company Stylex has launched Oko, a curvy upholstered lounge chair. Designed by Italian firm LucidiPevere, Oko adds a residential feel to hospitality environments. The sculptural, rigid back panel wraps the pillowy seat cushions while the base offers seamless movement and functionality.

Paolo Lucidi and Luca Pevere of LucidiPevere envisioned a perfectly symmetrical chair, leveraging the geometry of a cylinder to provide security and comfort. Composed of four parts, hidden zippers allow the seat and back cushions to be removed or reupholstered for longevity. Hoteliers can add casters or a swivel for unrestricted movement. The cocoon-like form and sophisticated curves inform Oko’s name, a concise nod to its polished style.

Oko’s rigid back panel simultaneously serves as structure and aesthetic element. Enveloping the cushions and base, the back panel rises just high enough to create a firmer support for the lower back. Available in five material combinations including maple, oak, walnut, leather, or upholstery, it offers customized dimension and contrast.
