Bassim Ouachani appointed GM of NYC's Arlo SoHo

Arlo Hotels, an independent, four-star lifestyle hotel brand, appointed Bassim Ouachani as GM of the Arlo SoHo in New York City. Ouachani brings more than 18 years of hospitality experience to this role, which was a natural progression from his previous position as director of operations at Arlo SoHo.

As GM, Ouachani will manage all hotel operations to ensure profitability, efficiency and positive guest experience. He will also lead staff training and development initiatives to ensure compliance of brand standard operating policies. Through his past experiences in the industry, Ouachani has become well-versed in hotel operations, security and safety policies, personnel and labor relations, quality assurance programs and long-range planning to assure the success of his properties and teams.

Ouachani has held leadership positions at recognized luxury hotel brands including Sofitel Luxury Hotels and Highgate Hotels. In these roles, he established a solid foundation of management abilities by implementing staff training programs, managing budgets and financial plans and maintaining brand standards to maximize the achievements of the hotels. Ouachani has an understanding of the hotel industry’s various departments, having working in operational roles ranging from front office to housekeeping. Ouachani holds an associate degree in hospitality management from LaGuardia College, and has continued his hospitality education at New York University.

Ouachani grew up in Morocco until age 13, and got his start in hospitality in upon moving to New York City. He speaks Arabic and French, and enjoys playing chess and spending time with his wife and three children in Staten Island.
