Two Canopy hotels, others appoint sales, marketing leaders

A number of domestic and international hotels appointed sales and marketing leaders in March. Here are some names to know at current and upcoming properties.

Asher Adams

Pivot, the lifestyle operating vertical of Davidson Hospitality Group and the manager and operator of the upcoming Asher Adams hotel in Salt Lake City, has appointed Nancy Clayton the director of sales and marketing for the property. 

Clayton has more than 25 years of leading sales and marketing teams at lifestyle and branded hotels. She was the director of sales and marketing for The Camby, Autograph Collection Hotel, in Phoenix, also operated by Pivot. When it opens in the fall, Asher Adams will be the first Autograph Collection hotel in downtown Salt Lake City. The property is under construction by The Athens Group with its partner, Hatteras Sky.

Canopy by Hilton Chicago Central Loop & Hilton Garden Inn Chicago Central Loop

The dual-branded Canopy by Hilton Chicago Central Loop & Hilton Garden Inn Chicago Central Loop appointed Julie Byrne the new complex director of sales for both properties. With more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Byrne most recently was director of sales at the DoubleTree By Hilton Hotels Chicago Oak Brook.

Other roles include complex group sales manager and complex business sales manager at W Hotels of Chicago, sales manager at Hospitality Softnet, and group services coordinator and convention services manager at Sheraton Gateway Suites Chicago O’Hare. 

In her new position, Byrne will be responsible for leading the sales teams of both properties, developing and implementing strategic sales and business travel initiatives, and fostering relationships with corporate clients and partners. 

Canopy by Hilton Sioux Falls (S.D.) Downtown

Richard J. Fischer will be director of sales and marketing of the upcoming 216-room Canopy by Hilton Sioux Falls (S.D.) Downtown, expected to debut in October 2024. 

Fischer joins the hotel with more than 25 years of sales and marketing experience, holding roles throughout the Midwest for full-service, lifestyle, all-suites and focused-service brands. Most recently, he was director of sales and marketing for Homewood Suites by Hilton Edina Minneapolis, and held roles at Hampton Inn & Suites Minneapolis/Downtown, Embassy Suites by Hilton Minneapolis Downtown and DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Minneapolis Downtown. 

Hard Rock Hotel New York

Hard Rock International appointed Maya Stanic as director of marketing for the Hard Rock Hotel New York. 

Stanic has worked with an assortment of luxury and lifestyle hotels as well as experiential hospitality venues. For the past two years, Stanic was SVP of marketing at The Institute of Competitive Socialising, leading the aggressive expansion strategies for Swingers – The Crazy Golf Club and positioning the brand as a leader in its business sector. Before this role, Stanic worked with Castlerock Asset Management for more than four years as the hospitality ownership and management group’s chief branding and marketing officer. Stanic also held branding and marketing positions with Nobu Hospitality and W Hotels. 

Okana Resort & Indoor Waterpark

The Chickasaw Nation appointed Edd Karlan director of sales and marketing for the upcoming Okana Resort & Indoor Waterpark, a $400 million project along the Oklahoma River near downtown Oklahoma City.

Karlan has held sales, marketing and events leadership positions for more than 25 years in major metropolitan markets including New York; Anaheim, Calif.; Atlanta; Palm Beach, Fla.; and Las Vegas. Most recently he worked with Hilton Hotels as task force sales leader in Seattle; San Jose, Calif.; and at the Skirvin Hilton in Oklahoma City this past summer. 

The Okana Resort & Indoor Waterpark is on track to open in spring 2025.

Salterra, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa

Marti Trieschmann has joined Salterra, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Turks & Caicos as the luxury director of sales and marketing.

Trieschmann has worked with Marriott, Westin, Hilton and Hyatt hotels. In her new role, she will be responsible for building a sales and marketing team, providing day-to-day leadership to Salterra’s sales and reservations associates and collaborating with the executive team to set top-line revenue targets.

Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal

In Mexico, the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal appointed Peter Falke director of sales and marketing. In this role, Falke will oversee all sales, marketing and public relations efforts for the hotel. 

Falke has nearly two decades of experience in the luxury hospitality sector across several key destination markets. Most recently, he was the director of sales and marketing for Rosewood Miramar Beach in California, where he diversified business by finding new audiences and markets for the property, launched new resort programming and overhauled the hotel’s marketing strategies. Before that, he was with the Four Seasons Hotel & Resorts brand for almost 15 years. During his time at the Four Seasons San Francisco, he re-established the hotel after a 16-month closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, lead a multiyear renovation and repositioning of the Four Seasons Hotel Houston and introduced several well-being experiences at the Four Seasons Resort Santa Fe, N.M.
