IRIS launches guest experience revenue calculator for hotels

IRIS has launched its Guest Experience Revenue Calculator, which is designed to help hotels estimate the potential revenue and operational impact of mobile food & beverage ordering and digital guest experience technology.

The calculator uses a property's operational metrics, including average order volumes and order values, to estimate potential increases in F&B revenue and operational efficiencies. IRIS said the calculator is intended to help hotel operators evaluate the business case for digital ordering technology by estimating revenue opportunities, labor efficiencies and guest experience improvements based on their property's operating data.

The London-based company said the calculator is based on benchmark data from more than 4 million annual orders processed across more than 2,000 hotels worldwide. Using an assumption that 70 percent of phone orders transition to digital ordering, the calculator estimates potential return on investment, revenue growth and operational improvements for hotels currently relying on manual ordering processes.

According to IRIS, mobile ordering can increase F&B guest spending by approximately 30 percent by enabling guests to order food, beverages and services from their personal devices throughout a property, including guestrooms, pools, beaches and public spaces. The company said digital ordering can also increase average transaction values through upselling opportunities while reducing manual order processing.

The company also said hotels using its platform have reported operational benefits, including up to 60 percent fewer front desk calls, service delivery times reduced by as much as three minutes per order and reduced manual order entry through integration with point-of-sale systems.
